Telvent, Trilliant Achieve Interoperability | in News Departments > FYI | by Renew Grid on Wednesday 25 November 2009 | Trilliant Inc. and Telvent say they have attained interoperability between Telvent's suite of real-time monitoring and control solutions and Trilliant's SecureMesh communications infrastructure. The integration is aimed at boosting electric distribution network reliability.
The companies say the core achievement of the integration is the capability to use broadband-scale, fully integrated networks with a range of substation and beyond-substation devices. These widely deployed distribution automation and control devices, running in a high-bandwidth, low-latency network, are able to exist at a variety of end points while delivering real-time performance and security.
"Distribution grid automation is a major component of a holistic smart grid system that spans the enterprise," says Andy White, president and CEO at Trilliant. "We're excited to be working with Telvent to help utilities realize the next generation of smart grid technology."
"This solution will increase the reliability and drive down the cost of owning and operating smart network devices," adds Manuel Sanchez, Telvent's president and CEO. "With Trilliant networks running these devices, our customers can move their distribution grid automation to the next level."
