AuthenTec, a provider of security, identity management and touch control solutions, is now offering security solutions for smart grid infrastructure, acquired through the company's purchase of SafeNet's Embedded Security Solutions.
AuthenTec's TrueProtect product line can now provide standards-compliant authentication, confidentiality and data integrity for companies and utilities that provide communications and networks for smart grid infrastructure.
AuthenTec's embedded hardware and software security solutions are designed to address the needs of chip vendors building ASICs targeting the smart grid market, meter vendors adding smart functions to existing equipment and adding CPE gateway equipment to their product portfolios, and utilities incorporating smart grid servers into their infrastructures. The products provide communications protection to prevent eavesdropping and message manipulation, and platform security to prevent tampering with meters and other CPE equipment.
TrueProtect products can be deployed independently or in combination with third-party offerings, or deployed in combination.
